My INtentioN

sankalpa

I want to meet you wherever you are on your journey.  No judgements or demands only complete compassion. As a community we are all grounded in the foundation of connection-both with others and within ourselves.

I want to give you all a safe space to cultivate self-love while giving you encouragement to grow.  Understand that growth is not linear, sometimes we tip the scales more to one side and fall but we must learn to laugh, shake it off and get back up.

Let us remember that life is all about balance. Life is already complicated; your practice doesn’t have to be.

Tipsy Yogini’s Journey

Indra’s purpose is to guide others in loving themselves and their practice, demonstrating that they are limitless. A dedicated yoga teacher with four years of experience, she was born into a yoga-loving family in Mexico City. Although she occasionally dabbled in yoga as a child, her teenage years saw her distancing herself from the practice.

It wasn’t until her early forties that yoga reentered her life. After one of her favorite teachers left Brownsville, Texas, she rediscovered her love and respect for the practice and decided to pursue her certification. Indra has since acquired her RYS 200 Hatha Yoga certification, along with 100 hours in Restorative Yoga and 50 hours in Pranayama, making her a fully accredited bilingual yoga instructor.

Without plans to teach due to her full-time job as a surgical technologist, meat-eating, dessert-indulger, and occasional wine-drinking yoga lover arrived at the park ready to share with her open heart and mat in hand. She immediately fell in love with teaching and found balance between hospital life and yoga. Thus, the name Tipsy Yogini reflects the idea that life is about balance knowing you may tip the scales but accepting that you’re exactly where you need to be.

As a self-love advocate, Indra believes that individuals don’t need to fit a particular mold. She asserts, “Yoga isn’t just for the flexible or about having the perfect outfit to wear. It’s about making time for yourself and discovering something new within yourself every time you come to the mat. Yoga is for the unbalanced, the perfectly imperfect. Yoga: because being bendy and wearing fancy pants isn’t enough – you also have to find inner peace and learn to love your wobbly bits.”

Indra currently resides in Brownsville, Texas, with her husband and their spirited miniature Schnauzer, Ringo Starr. Together, they enjoy a balanced life filled with work, family time, beach outings, and, most importantly, a deep appreciation for life!

– Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India. It involves a combination of physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation.

– Yoga offers numerous benefits, including increased flexibility, improved strength, better posture, stress relief, enhanced mental clarity, and overall well-being.

– No, yoga is for everyone, regardless of flexibility level. Flexibility will improve with practice.

– Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Most people wear form-fitting clothes to allow the instructor to see your alignment.

– A yoga mat is usually required. Other props like blocks, straps, and bolsters can enhance your practice but are not necessary.

– It’s important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting yoga, especially if you have any medical conditions or injuries. There are modifications for most poses, so it’s often possible to practice yoga safely with the right guidance.

– Yoga is not a religion, but it has spiritual roots in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Many people practice yoga purely for its physical and mental health benefits, without any religious context.

– Yoga helps reduce stress through a combination of physical movement, controlled breathing, and meditation, which can calm the nervous system and promote relaxation.

– Results vary depending on individual goals, but many people notice physical and mental benefits after just a few weeks of consistent practice.
